The Morning Essentials Ritual Set
A masterclass in texture and taste.
This is where your mornings rituals start and feel complete.
The Morning Essentials Set brings together every element of a traditional Japanese usucha preparation — measured, whisked, and held in the right vessel. The Mino-yaki bowl holds the warmth. The Kazuho whisk builds the froth. The bamboo scoop, the dose. Meiso matcha does the rest.
Four tools. One unrushed morning.
What's Inside
Essentials Set — 30g
- Meiso Ceremonial Matcha 30g (First Harvest, Kyushu)
- Mino-yaki Ceramic Chawan (Bowl)
- Kazuho 100-Tine Bamboo Whisk
- Hand-Bent Bamboo Scoop (Chashaku)
The Sensory Dialogue
The 100 hand-split tines of the Kazuho whisk do something a standard whisk cannot: they suspend the fine particles of the Meiso blend completely, unlocking the pistachio finish and the bold umami that sits underneath.
The bamboo scoop — hand-bent, single-piece — ensures a consistent dose, morning after morning. Precision that becomes habit. Habit that becomes ritual.
The Kiln Behind the Bowl
The Mino-yaki bowl is one of Japan's oldest ceramic traditions — fired in Gifu Prefecture, shaped for warmth in both hands. Made at Yamaki Kiln in Mizunami, Gifu, a studio with 98 years of continuous craft.
Every bowl that leaves the kiln has been shaped, glazed, and fired at 1,300°C by artisans who have spent their lives learning a single discipline. Paired with the Kazuho whisk, this is a set built for daily use without daily compromise.
How to Prepare Your Usucha Ritual
1. Sift
Use a fine-mesh sifter to add 1–2g (approx. ½ tsp) of Meiso Matcha to your Chawan.
2. Hydrate
Add 70ml of water at 80°C. Never boiling — high heat burns the delicate first-harvest powder.
3. Whisk
Use the Kazuho Chasen to whisk in a brisk W motion until a thick, micro-foam crema forms. 20–30 seconds.
4. Breathe
Hold the bowl in both hands before the first sip. Feel the warmth. This is the point.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for the Mino-yaki bowl?
Hand wash only with cold or lukewarm water. No dishwasher — thermal shock can crack the glaze over time. Dry immediately with a soft cloth. The bowl may develop a slight patina with daily use. This is normal and valued in Japanese ceramic tradition.
How do I care for the Kazuho whisk?
Rinse under cold water immediately after use. Never use soap. Reshape tines gently while wet and rest tine-up to air dry. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Never store wet inside a closed container.
How do I care for the bamboo scoop?
Wipe clean with a damp cloth after use. Do not submerge in water — the hand-bent curve can warp if left wet. Store horizontally in a dry place.
How do I use the scoop to measure?
One level scoop (chashaku) delivers approximately 1g of matcha. For a standard usucha bowl, use 1.5–2 scoops (1.5–2g) with 70ml of 80°C water. Adjust to your taste over the first few mornings.
Why does the Essentials Set include a scoop when other sets don't?
The scoop adds precision for those beginning their matcha practice — a consistent dose each morning removes one variable while you're still finding your rhythm. Once the relationship with your bowl and whisk is established, many practitioners move to measuring by eye.
